Important Puffin Information

PE days - we currently have PE on a Thursday. Please ensure your child has sensible shorts, T-shirt and shoes (either plimsolls or trainers). Please remember children are not allowed to wear earrings during PE and their hair must be up.

Please ensure PE kits are in school and clearly named.

We are lucky enough to go swimming every Friday. Children must have a swimming costume/shorts, hat and towel. Please ensure all items are clearly named so any lots things can be returned to their owners!

Homework - Guided Reading homework will be given out on a Friday. Please return all guided reading homework by Wednesday to ensure there is enough time for it to be marked and given out again on Friday.

Super Spellers also go home on a Friday. Please practise your spellings ready for a test on the following Thursday. You may like to follow 'look, cover, write, check' when you are practising at home.

                                           New Year…New You!

Our Topic this half term is New Year…New Me!

We started off with a trip to Tesco where we went on an exciting tour of the shop. We were allowed to try different cheese and fruit and even went in the warehouse! We were amazed at how many bread rolls they bake each day!

We have completed many exciting science experiments this half term. We completed the glitter experiment to see how easily germs spread. We put glitter on one person’s hands (germs) and they then went around touching different people and objects. Eventually we all had germs (glitter) on our hands… yuck! We also looked at how to wash our hands properly and when we should wash our hands.

We also looked at how mould grows on bread. We put a piece of bread in a bag with gloved hands, one with washed hand and one with dirty hands. They all grew mould but the one with dirty hands had a lot more!

We have tried out different exercises during our PE lessons including yoga, aerobics and circuit training. We were also lucky enough to have two martial arts coaches in to teach us some things. We looked at how our heart rate changes when we exercise.

We loved making mini beasts out of fruit and vegetables and a rainbow pizza… yum!

We have loved this topic and learning how to keep ourselves healthy and be the best we can be!

Please look through our picture gallery to see all of the exciting things we have been doing :)

Next half term we will be exploring the wonderful world of Roald Dahl!
