Important Puffin Information
PE days - We currently have Gymnastics on a Wednesday in the hall and swimming on a Friday. Please ensure your child has sensible shorts, T-shirt and shoes (either plimsolls or trainers). Please remember children are not allowed to wear earrings during PE and their hair must be up. In the colder months, please ensure your child has some warmer sports clothes to wear.
Please ensure PE kits are in school and clearly named.
Homework - Guided Reading homework will be given out on a Friday. Please return all guided reading homework by Wednesday to ensure there is enough time for it to be marked and given out again on Friday.
Super Spellers also go home on a Friday. Please practise your spellings ready for a test on the following Thursday. You may like to follow 'look, cover, write, check' when you are practising at home.
Our topic this half term is Explorers! We started our topic by thinking about the world and learnt about the 7 continents and 5 oceans. We also thought about the equator and how this effects the weather in different countries.
Over the next few weeks, we are going to be learning about several explorers and what they discovered. These include Christopher Columbus, Frederick Cook and Amelia Earhart. Our literacy lessons will also be linked to these explorers. For example we will write a story about discovering new lands when we learn about Christopher Columbus and will write a diary entry about flying across the ocean when we learn about Amelia Earheart. As well as Geography and History, we will be doing lots of Art and Science in our topic lessons.
In Maths, we will be learning about division, statistics and shape this half term.
We look forward to sharing all of our wonderful learning with you!
