Pupils and staff at Stamshaw Infant Schoolare celebrating after receiving a prestigious Artsmark Award.
Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It supports them to develop and celebrate arts and cultural education across the whole curriculum, bringing learning to life for children and young people.
In order to achieve our Artsmark Award, we made a commitment to develop our arts and culture provision to further embed a broad and balanced curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall action plan that was delivered across the whole school. We continued to maintain our commitment to the arts during the Covid pandemic and the Artswork assessor commended our remote learning offer.
On receiving the award, Headteacher, Jo Coopersaid, “We’re extremely proud to achieve our Artsmark GOLDAward. Our curriculum is well planned, exciting and creative and we are delighted that this has been recognised by Arts Council England. We are committed to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education and we look forward to continue to grow with Artsmark.”
Dr Darren Henley OBE, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, said:
“I would like to congratulate Stamshaw Infant Schoolon their Artsmark Award. Becoming an Artsmark school demonstrates that through offering a broad, balanced and creative curriculum, young people have the opportunity to develop character and resilience, increasing their knowledge, curiosity and skills that will remain with them through to adult life.”
Arts Council England has asked Stamshaw Infant School staff and children to celebrate their success across other settings, sharing their journey towards Gold and continuing their passion to ensure that the arts provision remains at the heart of the school.
